For God sake, what a fabulous phone.
I received yesterday this piece of technology and I'm in love with it.
Of course you already know its specs:
- SuperAmoled 4.8"
- 1280x720px
- QuadCore 1.4Ghz
- 8mpx rear Camera
- Front 1.9mpx camera
- 2100mAh Battery
- Android 4.04
- TouchWiz
When you start it you can check how fast it is. Is the fastest I've never used, and I've used many...
Transitions and movement are very very soft. If you where happy with Galaxy II, you will fall in love with this one. It's tremendous screen is not for all the hands, and I no mean pockets, i mean hands. You need a decent one to take it and to be able to touch with only one hand over all screen.
I must say that, being a bigger screen than Galaxy Nexus, this one is more easy to manage. This could be because this one is thinner than the Nexus.
Under the back cover, you will find a microSIM slot, and (yeahhhh) a microSD. I was very disappointed on the Galaxy Nexus because of the lack of one.
You are going to read me here referring many times to the Nexus, and thats because it was my previous phone, and because they seem close the same. As on most phones, you must remove the battery to remove the microSIM.
On the fron, you have only one hardware button as you got on the Galaxy II. On the nexus they were all soft buttons. Soft or hard. I prefer hard because when you change orientation of phone, you still know where the butons are, and on soft, buttons change and you can press on the wrong screen place.
Central button is a "click" one, and menu and back are sensitive, so you will only have to touch'em, not to press.
On this version of TouchWiz, and with this screen size, you will find not 4 but 5 icons on the bar (4 on the SGS II).
Lets go to the interesting things. On the notification bar you will see sometimes an eye. This is the SmartStay feature. This icon will appear when the camera takes a snapshot to check if your eyes are watching the screen in order to keep screen on. This way, you will never need to touch screen to keep it alive. I think this is a great idea, and I'm sure every phone will have it in the near future.
Another great feature is S Voice. I have never used voice recognition on computers or phones, but in this I use it. Not for dictation, but for telling "hey, wake me up at 6am" or "send message to Raquel" or this kind of things. The camera. You can tell it FAST.
If you thought Galaxy Nexus one was fast, this is 2x fast. When you have kids, you need a fast one. You have not to wait to take a snapshot, indeed, you can take as many as you want without wait. Internal memory is 16gb on this model, but having a microSD slot, you will never get out of space.
